                      The Turin Garden Project

An experiment in shared gardening

The Turin Garden Project is a small step. We are moving in the direction of a change that is not presently possible within the context of "regular economics". We aim to build something resilient, sustainable and equitable. A side effect of this will be to create a tiny economy based on mutual gain, mutual learning and coordinated effort. Ultimately an ecovillage.

The space available is 50' x75' for a common garden. Anyone helping with the common garden will be able to acquire a private garden plot of 5' x 20' for an annual $5 fee plus your help in maintaining the common garden. Common garden veggies will be sold via a sales outlet and veggies from the private plots will be the owners' discretion.

All participants will gain based on their contributed efforts and expenses. We are now sowing the land with a variety of crops as well as setting up a more permanent agriculture in that area by planting perennials, fruit trees and food bearing shrubs.

The method we are using to do this, Permaculture, can be defined as
a set of design principles centered on whole systems thinking and using the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems. It uses these principles in a growing number of fields from regenerative agriculture, rewilding, and community resilience.

This is the first year we do this. Our experience will determine what path to take next year. Everyone welcome!

Feel free to come and check it out. If you want a ride in or to know when someone will be there, give me a call or text. Same if you want to be on the email list or the What's App TGP list. I'm at 403.593.2030
